In our 90-day roadmap, we cover both quick AEO wins and longer-term strategies for building your presence in AI search:
Days 1-7: Audit where you stand
Run these prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, and copy the responses into a doc so you can track changes over time.
- "Describe [Firm Name] and what they do."
- "List the top wealth management/RIA/fintech firms in [your category or region]."
- "Who are the best providers for [core service you offer]?"
- "Compare [Firm Name] to [Competitor Name]."
Pay attention to three things in particular: Does the AI mention you at all? Does it describe you accurately? Does it recommend you over competitors, and if not, who lands in the top spots? A quick audit like this doesn’t cost you anything, takes minimal time, and will help you understand exactly where your brand stands in the AI data ecosystem right now.
Days 8-45: Restructure content for both human and machine
AI platforms pull from clear, structured, consistently published content. Specific claims get cited over vague brand language. "We take a holistic approach to wealth management" tells an AI model nothing. "We manage $2B in assets for tech executives navigating equity compensation" gives it something concrete to return as an answer.
Go through your website, team bios, and core service pages and rewrite anything vague into something concrete, then build the authority signals AI platforms check for before they trust a source:
- Custodian or platform integrations (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing)
- Industry association memberships (FPA, NAPFA, XY Planning Network)
- Conference speaking engagements and sponsorships
- Recognition in trade publications (InvestmentNews, Wealth Management, ThinkAdvisor)
Publish this content consistently across the channels AI models crawl: your website, LinkedIn, press coverage, and relevant directories. In this step, you’re developing clear, consistent positioning across authoritative sources to create an unmistakable pattern AI recognizes and can return in a response.
Days 46-90: Build citable proof
Clear, consistent descriptions can drive visibility and mentions, but recommendations require real proof. Case studies, ROI benchmarks, client results, and original research give AI models something concrete to point to when a prospect asks who has the best estate planning software for $500M RIAs.
Aim to publish one piece of proof-based content this quarter, whether that’s a short case study, a benchmark report pulled from your own data, or a point of view backed by real results.
Both financial advisors and their clients want partners with real operational authority. AI search makes it easier than ever for them to find what they’re looking for. Make sure it’s you.
